#BlackFridayGiving -- Each Friday in 2011 efforts to increase awareness of an online mission to support charities and education were stepped up with a twitter campaign knows as #BlackFridayGiving.

Comparisons were made between weekly entertainment spending versus the support of national orgs and charities as it relates to African American buying power. "There is no power in buying," says Yalanda Lattimore, editor of DryerBuzz.com and creator of the campaign.  "With wealth gaps at record levels and particularly African Americans hovering around just $5,000 in assets, it is time to rethink where our power lies.  We need to support our safety nets. If life were a move, we would give $60 million dollars a week.  Same as if life were measured by hair care spending."

Turning every Friday into #BlackFridayGiving, this #BlackFriday in 2011 is no different purticularly in present economy. The campaign hopes to encourage more to give before spending.  "Just as people are planning their mad dash to the store to catch sales, we hope our readers will also choose charities and education initiatives to support as well," continues Yalanda. "And not just for the holiday season, but we hope readers begin to build relationships with orgs and charities to support all year long."

BlackFridayGiving.DryerBuzz.com provides the buzz behind the buzz on organizations, charities, and educational initiatives to choose from on a local and national level.  On #BlackFriday 2011, the site will conduct a live and interactive forum encouraging more involvement by promoting favorite orgs.
